ICD Emulsion Study for Sandface Completion Design

iProdTech have been requested by a major E & P operator to assist with an offshore viscous oil field development (14 deg API, 30 cP) which comprises a 56 slot wellhead platform to house ~40 horizontal wells, linked to a permanently-moored FPSO. iProdTech will assess the potential for emulsion generation and subsequent impact on the performance of the wells, planned to be completed with sand control, inflow control devices and electrical submersible pumps.

The scope of work includes consideration of analogue fields and review of relevant laboratory testing, (e.g. critical shear rates and emulsion stability for the field’s crude).

Performance modelling of the upper and lower completion will require standard and specialised nodal analysis tools with consideration of the ESP specifications, the type, number and sizing of the ICDs and the impact of lateral compartmentalisation (external packers) on annular and radial flow behaviour and therefore fluid velocities.
