Support to a Sanding Study

iProdTech were involved in providing support to a sanding study for an onshore field in south-east Africa. The overall scope of work for the sanding study included assessment of the life-of-well sanding risk in an oil and gas producer well planned to be completed as a multi-zone selective single completion with up to 9 isolated intervals.  The specific tasks included:

  • Review of well and completion design, initial reservoir conditions, reservoir fluids and production forecast.
  • Review of available mineralogy data from offset wells and provision of support to desktop evaluation of the effect of water production on sanding potential for each completed interval in the well.
  • Provision of inputs to recommendations for further work and data acquisition to improve sand failure prediction, including laboratory analysis on available core/side wall core samples from offset wells.
